Physics Project Work

Rajan Thapa submitted a project on studying renewable energy consumption in Nepal. The project was submitted to the Physics department. It analyzes Nepal's use of renewable energy sources over the past five years and distribution of energy sources. It finds that while use of renewable energy is gradually increasing, it is not enough to prevent potential energy crises. More development of alternative renewable sources is needed to replace expensive non-renewable sources and ensure sustainable energy for future generations.

Acknowledgement

I am overwhelmed in all humbleness and gratefulness to acknowledge my depth to all

those who have helped me to put these ideas well above the simplicity and something
concrete. I would like to express my special thanks to all my teacher of physics
department who gave the golden opportunity to do the wonderful project “ study of the
renewable energy consumption in nepal”, which also helped me in doing a lot of research
and I came to know about a lot things. I am really thankful to them.
I would like to thank my parents who helped me alot in gathering different information,
collecting data and gilding me froim time to time in making this project , despite of their
busy schedules , they gave me different ideas in makin this project unique.

Thanking you,
Rajan Thapa

Introduction
What does it mean by energy? Simply, energy is the ability to do work.there are the various
sources of energy available in the world. Some resources are unlimited and can be obtained
continuously while some are present in the limited amount and can go out of stock if used
continuously. The first time of energy are called renewable energy source , some of the
example of the renewable energy sources are wind, solar energy, hydroelectricity, biomass
,tidal energy, and many more. The second type of energy is non- renewable energy source
,some example of this energy source are natural gas, petroleum product, coal and many more.
Renewable sources of energy are those source of energy which are easily available in the
nature and are free of cost and are produced continuously in nature. These sources of energy
is considered to be more convenient and effective sources of energy in this twenty first
century. While the non-renewable sources of energy are those sources of energy which are not
easily available in the nature and takes a lot of time to reform once finished. These sources of
energy are actually not encouraged to be used frequently by number of the scientist in this
present world.
Talking about the source of energy in nepal, the major sources of energy used
frequently in nepal are hydroelectricity,solar energy,wind energy,biomass,petroleum
products, coal and many more.while there are some sources of energy which are
usually found to be used in nepal. They are tidal energy, nuclear energy etc.
Here we mainly focusing on the renewable sources of energy. As we already know
that the non-renewable sources of energy are limited in nature and we cannot be
absolutely depends upon the non-renewable sources. In such case we have to develop
more and more renewable sources plant and should do study and research to find out
new renewable sources sources of energy. Seeing the today’s scenario of energy
consumption it is sure that the world has to go through a serious energy crisis if no
necessary steps are taken. To prevent this we have to give emphasis on the renewable
sources of energy such as hydroelectricity, solar plants, windmill, biomass and many
more.
Hydroelectricity is the energy produced from the flow of water.Similarly solar energy
can be defined as the heat and light energy produced from the sun. Likewise wind
energy is the energy produced from the fast flowing wind. Lastly, biomass is the energy
obtained from the dry content of living beings. These are the main classes of the
renewable sources of energy mainly used in nepal.
Among all other renewable sources found in nepal, hydroelectricity is considered to have
the maximum potentiality. There are about 6000 rivers and rivulets in nepal. From where we
can generate about 83000 MW of electricity but economically we can generate about 43000
MW of electricity. But in actual terms we are able to generate only about 1300 MW of
electricity till now. This cannot be considered as a good achievement actually we cannot
even say it a achievement. The country which are much more behind us in terms of natural
resources, economy, health and educational sector are much more ahead in terms of
energy production. In terai region of there is a very cold climate where a very strong wind
blows. We can use that fast flowing wind and convert it into the electrical energy. Although
there are some windmills established in many parts of the country but it is still not enough.
We need to established more and more windmills to prevent our country from the possible
energy crisis that can happen by excessive use of non-renewable sources of energy. Solar
energy is considered as the major sources of energy in the world as all the other source of
energy are the product of solar energy. We receive about 340 W/m^2 solar energy per day.
If we became able to use at least half of the total amount of energy received then the
possible energy crisis in the world can be resolved by ease. Moreover, we have to search
for the alternative for the non-renewable source of energy.
Some example of renewable sources of energy in nepal
Objectives
1.to analysis the use of renewable energy source of nepal of past five
years.
2.to study the distribution of energy source in nepal
Materials used
1.Internet search engine such as google, youtube, wikipedia and many
more.
2.A notebook,pencil,pen,graph paper,calculator while doing the survey
among the people.
3.Electrical device like laptop, mobile phone while writing the report.
Methodology and techniques

Here in this project I used the secondary sources of data collection .

I collect the data by searching from internet on
google, youtube, wikipedia and from many other sites. I also collect
some of the data by reading the books and magazines.
From the information that I got on the net I prepare some of the
graph showing the information about the trend of use of renewable
sources of energy in nepal.
Results and discussion
From the data that I got from the internet I found the following results. The
results are illustrated with the help of graph.

The graph shows the use of renewable energy.

Conclusion

From my study I found that the use of renewable sources of energy is

increasing gradually in nepal day by day which is a very good sign for the
prevention of energy crisis. But still this is not enough to prevent the energy crisis.
We have to develop more and more alternative sources which are relatively
cheaper than that of the non-renewable sources of energy. We have to run the
awareness program among the people and encourage them to use the renewable
source of energy for the sake of nature and future generations.
