Introduction: Fit-to-Standard Process
Fit-to-Standard Process
Purpose

The purpose of the Fit-to-Standard Process is to match the customer’s business processes to the
standard processes available and to capture optimization, solution configuration, needed by the
customer. It is a sub-process in the Application: Design and Configuration workstream.

Purpose is Met By:


 Enabling customers on the business processes included in the solution scope

 Validating that the scope and business processes meet the business needs

 Determining core configuration values based on business drivers

 Identifying configuration values lists to be provided by the business

 Defining organizational structure and chart of accounts

 Defining required master data

 Defining authorization mapping

Fit-to-Standard Process: Inputs
Business Driven Configuration

The purpose of the Business Driven Configuration process is to support the Fit-to-Standard process by
providing early insight into SSCUI configuration needed. It helps to prepare and structure the Fit-to-
Standard workshops to create efficiency.

Purpose is Met By:


 Early insight into the customer’s business processes.

 Provides prescriptive guidance for determining customer configuration requirements based

on the implementation scope.


 Increases structure in planning and executing of the Fit-to-Standard Analysis workshops.

 Facilitates conversations between implementation experts and business users during the

Fit-to-Standard Analysis workshops.


 Links customer business processes and solution configuration.

Self-Enablement Checkpoint Configuration

Perform a self-enablement checkpoint for all of the Fit-to-Standard


workshop participants before the workshop. The purpose of asking
these questions to the participants is to help the configuration
expert understand how far along each business process expert is
in their self-enablement journey. Some suggested questions are:
 How many have accessed the Starter System? The Starter System allows
for users to execute the Best Practices test scripts with pre-delivered data.

 How many have accessed the implementation roadmap in Roadmap


Viewer? Content in the implantation roadmaps in Roadmap Viewer provide
guidance and assets to assist during the implementation project.
 How many have accessed SAP Best Practices Explorer? SAP Best
Practices Explore has the Best Practices test scripts and process flows.
 How many have accessed SAP Cloud ALM (if applicable)? Best Practices
test scripts and process flows can be accessed in SAP Cloud ALM. In
addition SAP Cloud ALM allows for capturing of requirements for
configuration during the Fit-to-Standard workshops.

General Workshop Principals

Workshop Best Practices should still be followed:


 Plan in detail with templates for workshop inputs and outputs.
 Set boundaries and understand expectations at the start of each workshop.
 Provide process, value and strategic context at start of each workshop.
 Focus on business value and tie to business case and value drivers.
 Access the Scope Item Process Diagram, Process Model and Test Scripts within the SAP Best
Practices Explorer in the Scope Item details to explain and demo the S/4HANA solution functionality.
 Build off Business Driven Configuration Questionnaire(s) filled out by the customer to clarify and make
critical configuration decisions.
 Discuss any scope that has/may be impacted by a system upgrade – refer to “What’s New” Help
documentation for further guidance.
 Prioritize scope and configuration.
 Document decisions, assumptions and business impacts of new processes.
 Produce detailed documentation immediately and align with customer.
 Formal sign-off of key decisions and required configuration before realize phase starts.
 Time is limited, scope validation is not a training session, time box to drive decision making.
