POWERPOINT
 Is a presentation graphic program that allows you to create dynamic slide presentations.
 Allows you to organize, summarize and format your materials, illustrate your presentation with images, or Clip Art,
graphics, video, audio, animation and other multimedia components.
 Allows you to make tutorials for the purpose of training or educational contexts.
 Was first developed by Dennis Austin and Thomas Rudkin of Forethought Inc.
 Was then called as the “presenter” and was renamed “PowerPoint”.

Presentation
 A presentation is a collection of data and information that is to be delivered to a specific audience.
 A PowerPoint presentation is a collection of electronic slides that can have text, pictures, graphics, tables, sound and
video. This collection can run automatically or can be controlled by a presenter.
ELEMENTS OF MS POWERPOINT
Microsoft Office Button
 The Microsoft Office button performs many of the functions that were located in the File menu of
older versions of PowerPoint. This button allows you to create a new presentation. Open an exiting
presentation, save and save as, print, send or close.

Ribbon
 The ribbon is the panel at the top portion of the document, it has seven tabs: Home, Insert, Design,
Animation, Slide Show, Review and View.
 Each tab is divided into groups. The groups are logical collections of features designed to perform
function that you will utilized in developing or editing your PowerPoint slides.

Showing and hiding the Ribbon


Displays your workbook in full-screen mode and completely
hides the Ribbon.

Hides all command groups when they’re not in use, but tabs will
remain visible.

Maximizes the ribbon. All of the tabs and commands will be visible. This
option is selected by default when you open PowerPoint for the first time.
Quick Access Toolbar

 Located just above the ribbon, quick access toolbar lets you access common commands
no matter which tab is selected.
 By default it includes the Save, Undo, Redo, and Start From The Beginning
commands.

The ruler, guides, and gridlines


PowerPoint includes several tools to help organize and arrange content on your slides,
including the Ruler, guides, and gridlines. These tools make it easier to align objects on
your slides.
Zoom and other options
PowerPoint has a variety of viewing options that change how your presentation is displayed.
You can choose to view your presentation in Normal view, Slide Sorter view , Reading view or Slide Show view. You can also zoom in and out
to make your presentation easier to read.

Switching slide view


Switching between different slide view is easy Just locate and select the desired slide view command in the bottom-right corner of the
PowerPoint.

Zooming in and out


To zoom in or out, click and drag the zoom control slider in the bottom-right corner of the PowerPoint window. You can also select the + or
– commands to zoom in or out by smaller increments. The number next to the slider displays the current zoom percentage, also called the
zoom level.

Backstage View
Backstage view gives you various options for saving, opening, printing and sharing your presentations.
