Learnings in NSTP (LTS)
NSTP (LTS)
GROUP 1
WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED:
• What we learned in the lesson is that NSTP is a civic education and
defense preparedness program students instituted by the Government of
the Philippines on the 23rd of July 2001 by virtue of Republic Act 9163,
otherwise known as the “National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act
of 2001”. It aims to promote and integrate values education,
transformational leadership, spirit of patriotism and nationalism and
sustainable social mobilization for youth development, community
building and national security while undergoing training in any of its
three program components.
• NSTP helps to instill value of nationalism and patriotism to all of us
students who will be the hope for the next generations. With these values
being integrated to us students, it can help us to express our love and
loyalty for our country.
THE THREE COMPONENTS OF NSTP
We learned that human rights are intimately related to the concept of human dignity. Both
conceptions are connected in such a way that one cannot be understood without the other. The
importance of human rights and the requirement to respect everyone’s rights is based on the notion
of human dignity, whereas human dignity is the belief that all hold a special value that’s tied solely
to their humanity, in a sense that it is considered to be the foundation of human rights. In the same
way, human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world, from
birth until death. These basic rights are based on shared values like dignity, fairness, equality,
respect and independence. They are guaranteed to everyone without distinction of any kind, such as
race, color, race, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property,
birth, or other status. Human rights are essential to the full development of individuals and
communities.
GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT
We have learned that through understanding Environmental Protection and Management it can
help us deepen our understanding about our environment and on how we are going to protect our
environment in accordance with the laws that has been implemented. And as a Filipino citizen and
as a student in this country, we need to take initiatives to help protect our environment, because, if
we are not going to take some actions, we will surely face the consequences. With the simple
actions that we can contribute, such as; not using disposable products, not cutting trees, not
throwing garbage anywhere, etc. these can create a huge impact to our environment in a sense that
it may help our mother Earth heal and not to suffer.
DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND MANAGEMENT
The advocacy of Disaster Risk Reduction Management was produced in order to reduce and
manage the condition of hazard, exposure and vulnerability that we can prevent losses and alleviate
the impacts of disasters. Reducing exposure to hazards, lessening vulnerability of people and
property, wise management of land and the environment, and improving preparedness for adverse
events are all examples of disaster risk reduction.
Learning this subject matter is important because a disaster’s severity depends on how much
impact a hazard has on society and environment. The scale of the impact in turn depends on the
choices we make for our lives and for our environment. Each decision and action makes us more
vulnerable to disaster. Spreading the word and applying the learnings to our daily life can help us
prevent to more disastrous and risks.
BASIC LIFE SAVING
Basic life-saving is a level of first-aid resuscitation or revitalizing a person that can be used in
emergency situations until victims are placed into the care of medical professionals, this included
in all first-aid training courses, along with related life-saving techniques and procedures such as
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). It can help people who are choking, drowning or are
suffering from cardiac arrest, and it can make the difference between life and death for some
people.
We have learned the aspects of basic life-saving, where through it we can easily determine the
do’s and don’ts of helping a person who is attacked by his/her illness. Because saving a person’s
life is essential, and if we don’t have enough backgrounds about basic life-saving we are prohibited
to touch are do something to the patient and all we have to is to call the medical professionals,
because if we do without enough backgrounds, instead of helping the patient to live longer we
might shorten the time of his/her life or killed. Helping is good but we must know our limits and be
conscious to our actions.
