A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting new
lesson:
The tools used in food preservation are much
the of the same tools used in a standard kitchen.

Example: spoons, knives, and forks may be


used in the food preservation
process, and these tool/equipment would be
classified under the category,
utensils.

What other utensils you know at
home? Apart from the usual kitchen
utensils mentioned above , you will need
the following tools used for preserving and
processing foods.

Here are some of the utensils/ equipment:

a. Apple Corer- used to take off the core and pips


from apple and fruits
b. Baster- used to
drizzle juice or meat.
 

c. Basting Brush- used for


spreading juice or liquid

on meat so
it does not

dry up and its flavorful.


e. Cheese Cloth - used for
making and wrapping

cheese.

f. Containers – different sizes


and types like plastic
bins with airtight lids,
ceramic bowls with
plastic lids, and glass
jars are needed to store
foods.
g. Colander – used for
draining liquid from
food.

h. Meat Grinder – used to mince and


pure meat
  i. Melon Baller – used to
make balls from melon
and other fruits.

j. Sieve – a utensils consisting


of a wire or plastic mesh
held in a frame, used for
straining solids from
liquid for separating
coarser from finer
particles or for reducing
soft solids to a pulp.
In using kitchen tools/equipment , everyone
must observe safety measures.
We should know how to use each tools
especially those electrical equipment to avoid
accident.
Example:
1. concentrate your work especially in
using electrical tools
2. dry your hands before using electrical
equipment .
3. keep the sharp of a tool away from your body
