A lower segment cesarean section (LSCS) is a surgical procedure to deliver a baby through incisions made in the lower segment of the uterus and abdominal wall. It is one of the most commonly performed operations worldwide and is used when vaginal delivery poses risks. During an LSCS, an incision is made through the lower segment of the uterus using a transperitoneal approach to extract the fetus. An LSCS, also simply known as a c-section, ensures delivery with minimal difficulties for situations where normal labor and delivery poses health risks.
