INTRODUCTION
 A PV array is a linked assembly of modules. Each photovoltaic (PV) module is made
of multiple interconnected PV cells. The cells convert solar energy into direct-
current electricity. PV modules are sometimes called solar panels, although that term
better applies to solar-thermal water or air heating panels.
 The PV Modules gather solar energy in the form of sunlight and convert it into direct
current (DC) electricity. An inverter can convert this DC power into alternating
current (AC power, which is the type of electricity used in home). PV Modules are
joined together to form a PV Solar Panel system

MOTIVATION &
OBJECTIVES
MOTIVATION

 We decide to do this project to implement our course knowledge and software skills
in real life problems. We thought that this project work will rise our confidence level
and build a good relation among the group members. Apart from that, our course
teacher direction also motivated us to do this project.

OBJECTIVES
 The objective of the project is to design a Simulink model file that will demonstrate
a real life solar array and we will generate 220-240V AC power.

TERMINOLOGY

 PV Array: The PV Array block is a five-parameter model using a light-


generated current source (IL), diode, series resistance (Rs), and shunt
resistance (Rsh) to represent the irradiance- and temperature-dependent I-V
characteristics of the modules.

 Inverter: An inverter converts the DC electricity from sources such as


batteries or fuel cells to AC electricity. The electricity can be at any required
voltage; in particular it can operate AC equipment designed for mains
operation, or rectified to produce DC at any desired voltage

TERMINOLOGY

 Passive filter: A passive filter component is a combination of capacitors and


inductors that are tuned to resonate at a single frequency, or through a band of
frequencies. In power systems, passive filters are used to suppress harmonic
currents and decrease voltage distortion appearing in sensitive parts of the
system.

 Boost Converter: The boost converter is used to "step-up" an input voltage


to some higher level, required by a load. This unique capability is achieved
by storing energy in an inductor and releasing it to the load at a higher
voltage.

RESULT & DISCUSSION

 Result: After running the simulation on Matlab Simulink, we can see


we are getting pure ac signal from the pv array. We get the voltage at
210-235V range.

 Discussion: we face some issue with simulation like while running


for 2nd or 3rd time the result distorted.
