The main sources of heat in mine air are:
1) High temperature surface air entering the mine carrying heat from the surface.
2) Heat due to auto-compression of 1.1 KPa or 1°C per 100 meters of depth.
3) Heat from the surrounding rock due to a geothermal gradient of 2.5°C per 100 meters.

Sources of heat in Mine Air
• High temperature of surface air
• Surface air entering the mine can carry with it some heat if the surface temperature is high compared to the underground temperature. • Heat due to auto-compression • 1.1 KPa per 100 meter or 1°C per 100 meter
• Heat from rock due to geothermal gradient
• Geothermal gradient is 2.5 °C per 100 meter.
• Heat from men
