The municipality of Alabel, Sarangani Province is characterized by its physical, historical, social, cultural, and economic attributes that have influenced the values and behaviors of its residents. Physically, Alabel has a land area of over 52,000 hectares located on the eastern side of Sarangani Bay. Historically, the municipality was first settled in 1947 and was named after the pioneering Alaba and Beldad families. Socially, the population is predominantly Cebuano-speaking with family structures based around extended families. Culturally, the residents are predominantly Roman Catholic and celebrate local festivals.  1956 = Alabel was converted into barrio under the Municipality of


Dadiangas.
 September 1971 = ALABEL was converted into a municipality with 8
barangays under it.
 1992 = Alabel became the Capital town of the newly created Sarangani
Province.
