Winning Behavior will not thrive in a culture that does not support it
BCD Behavior
B = Blame Others
1. The Golden Rule- You are expected to do nothing that will reflect a bad image on
yourself, your teammates, your coaching staff, or your school. DO RIGHT!!!
2. We will follow the school district’s handbook on policies dealing with drugs, tobacco and
alcohol. You will run until Coach Jackson thinks you are prepared to make better choices,
and you still may not play.
3. Social media – count to ten before you hit send!
2. If your son is not a starter, assure him that his role is extremely important to this team.
3. Support your son’s coaches. They represent the authority directing this team. When the parents support the coaches,
the players will follow suit.
4. Encourage your son to follow team rules concerning drinking, curfews, discipline in the classroom, etc. We as coaches
must expect more from our athletes than we do the average student in the halls. The more sacrifices he makes for the
team, the more that team means to him.
5. Parents must be team players also. Be careful not to develop envy toward other players. Parent jealousy can and will
devastate a team.
6. Please respect the profession of coaching. Your son’s coaches are professionals and are with you son virtually 12
months a year. They know what your son is capable of achieving. You may want to question a coach’s decision,
but to publicly slander judgments made by the coaches is detrimental to the team.
7. Be an enthusiastic Buffalo fan. Always display our pride with class. We will win with class and if we lose,
we will lose with class.
8. Expect your son to take responsibility for his and his team’s actions. Give him credit when things go well. But, hold
him responsible when mistakes are made. We can learn from our mistakes only when we are held responsible.
9. Strive to understand the importance of the “team”. You the “parent” are a vital part of this team. When the coaches,
players and parents are all believing in each other and supporting each other, all things are possible.
