The document provides summaries of important inventions and developments throughout history from ancient to modern times. It discusses inventions such as the water mill, castle, mechanical clock, printing press, steam engine, telephone, internal combustion engine, nuclear power, vacuum cleaner, and airplane. Each time period highlights several influential innovations, for example the Middle Ages saw developments like the longbow and mechanical clocks while the Industrial Revolution introduced the flying shuttle and spinning jenny.

ANCIENT TIMES
WATER MILL
WATER MILL

Water mills were revolutionary invention and have been used all over the world for
the purpose of metal shaping, agriculture, and milling. To mill means to grind.
This in turn led to the production of edible food staples like rice, cereals, etc. This
mills are still used in many parts of the world.
CARTOGRAPHY
BASIS OF GEOMETRY
BASIS OF GEOMETRY

Geometry is doubtless one of the oldest branches of Mathematics, possibly older

than arithmetic itself. It is practical necessity demanded the use of various
geometric techniques way before any of these were recorded in history.
MIDDLE TIMES
CASTLE
CASTLE

The medieval people lavished tremendous on their design making them

progressively deadlier to attackers and safer and more pleasant for castle-dwellers.
LONGBOW
LONGBOW

The most feared weapon of the Middle Ages was the longbow with a range of well
over 200 meters. This could shoot at least six arrows a minute. The powerful
longbows apparently developed on the Welsh borders from the late 12 th century.
TOILET TALK
TOILET TALK

During the Middle Ages, rich people built toilets called 'garderobes' jutting out of
the sides of their castles. This was a tiny room with a seat pierced by a hole in the
bottom let everything just drop into a pit or the moat.
RENAISSANCE PERIOD
SUBMARINE
SUBMARINE
Their submarines used petrol or steam engines for surface cruising and electric
motors for underwater travel. They also invented torpedoes which were propelled
by small electric motors, thereby introducing one of the most dangerous weapons
in the world.
MECHANICAL CLOCK
MECHANICAL CLOCK
The mechanical renaissance clock is perhaps one of the most important inventions
during this time period. Before this, time was kept via a sundial, which is actually
quite accurate within a minute. It helped accelerate the development and
production of clocks due to the strict observance of everything. Mechanical clocks
during the Renaissance allowed for the observance of prayer times, and they made
life more convenient. They led to the invention of clocks that were much more
accurate.
PRINTING PRESS
PRINTING PRESS
Gutenberg's printing press spread literature to the masses for the first time in an
efficient, durable way, shoving Europe headlong into the original information age
– the Renaissance. It was used for the printing. Creation of a printing press turned
out to be a big help in creating vernacular literature available to the wider public.
INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
FLYING SHUTTLE
FLYING SHUTTLE
The flying shuttle was one of the key developments in the industrialization of
weaving during the early Industrial Revolution. It is a machine that represented an
important step toward automatic weaving. It was invented by John Kay in 1733. In
previous looms, the shuttle was thrown, or passed, through the threads by hand,
and wide fabrics required two weavers seated side by side passing the shuttle
between them.
SPINNING JENNY
SPINNING JENNY
James Hargreaves' 'Spinning Jenny', the patent for which is shown here, would
revolutionise the process of cotton spinning. The machine used eight spindles onto
which the thread was spun, so by turning a single wheel, the operator could now
spin eight threads at once.
COTTON GIN
COTTON GIN

The cotton gin, a machine that revolutionized the production of cotton by greatly
speeding up the process of removing seeds from cotton fiber. The fibers are then
processed into various cotton goods such as calico, while any undamaged cotton is
used largely for textiles
19TH CENTURY
STEAM ENGINE
STEAM ENGINE

The stationary steam engines powered the factories of the Industrial Revolution.
Steam engines replaced sail for ships, and steam locomotives operated on the
railways. Large steam engines were used in factories and mills to power machines
of all types. Smaller steam engines were used in transportation including trains
and steamboats.
TELEPHONE
TELEPHONE
The telephone was a very important invention of the nineteenth century which
helped improve communications between people at a distance from telegraph. The
telegraph and telephone are both wire-based electrical systems. Alexander Graham
Bell's success with the telephone came as a direct result of his attempts to improve
the telegraph.
COMBUSTION ENGINE
COMBUSTION ENGINE
Physicists call the internal combustion engine a "prime mover," meaning it uses
some form of energy such as engine to move objects. The first reliable internal
combustion engines were developed in the middle of the nineteenth century and
were almost immediately put to use for transportation.
20TH CENTURY
NUCLEAR POWER
NUCLEAR POWER

Nuclear energy, also called atomic energy, is an energy that is released in significant
amounts in processes that affect atomic nuclei, the dense cores of atoms. The nuclear
power process heat and non-stationary power reactors have essential uses across
multiple sectors, including consumer products, food and agriculture, industry, medicine
and scientific research, transport, and water resources and the environment.
VACUUM CLEANER
VACUUM CLEANER
A vacuum cleaner, also known simply as a vacuum or a hoover, is a device that
causes suction in order to remove debris from floors, upholstery, draperies, and
other surfaces. It is generally electrically driven. The debris is collected by either
a dust bag or a cyclone for later disposal. Vacuum cleaners, which are used in
homes as well as in industry.
AIRPLANE
AIRPLANE
Airplanes are transportation devices which are designed to move people and cargo
from one place to another. Airplanes come in many different shapes and sizes
depending on the mission of the aircraft. The development of the airplane is a
twentieth-century phenomenon. From the first powered aircraft to the creation of
the supersonic transport, airplanes improved quickly. This was aided by the
innovations of World War I and World War II.
