Prof Ed 4 Group1 Progressivism

Progressivism is a student-centered philosophy that focuses on learning by doing through pursuing students' own interests and needs. Progressivists believe people learn best from experiences they find relevant to their lives. The progressivist classroom allows exploration and experience, with teachers as facilitators. Students work in small groups on custom activities and learning stations. Progressivism emphasizes hands-on projects, experiential learning, problem solving, and social skills over rote knowledge. John Dewey viewed schools as miniature democratic societies where students learn democratic skills through participation in activities and discussions.
