Product Life Cycle
A product life cycle is the amount of time a product goes
from being introduced into the market until it’s taken off the
shelves.
There are four stages in a product’s life cycle:
 Introduction,
 Growth,
 Maturity, and
 Decline.

Product Development Process
The product development process encompasses all steps
needed to take a product from concept to market
availability.
 Product design passes through the following steps :
Quality Function Deployment
Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a process and set
of tools used to effectively define customer requirements
and convert them into detailed engineering
specifications and plans to produce the products that
fulfill those requirements.
QFD methodology effectively communicates customer
needs to multiple business operations throughout the
organization including design, quality, manufacturing,
production, marketing and sales. This effective
communication of the Voice of the Customer allows the
entire organization to work together and produce
products with high levels of customer perceived value.
4-Phases of Quality Function Deployment
Value Engineering
Value engineering is an exercise or method of
analyzing a products features, system, materials
etc. to realize essential capabilities at lowest
cost. It aims to improve designs and
specifications at every stage of
product development .
Manufacturing Process:
Manufacturing process analysis focuses on the sequential
steps that make up the manufacturing process. The process
itself is initiated by the manufacturer, usually begins with a
set of product specifications, moves through production and
testing, and ends with delivery to the customer. If, at any
point in the process, products do not meet appropriate
quality requirements, they are recycled or eliminated. A
good manufacturing process produces products that
consistently meet quality requirements, with little or no
waste, delivered to the customer on time and on budget.
Analyzing the process is based on watching and describing
what employees do. Quality and performance are relatively
easy to measure.
Service Process:
 Service processes generate value as the customer interacts
with the process and, ultimately, it’s the customer’s
experience with the process that’s most important. In other
words, it is the service process, itself, that constitutes the
product.
 We can define the service process as the way in which a
company works so that a customer receives service. To
standardize this in line with the company's identity and aims,
managers will work on:
i. Determining procedures which contribute to the process.
ii.Allocating tasks and responsibilities.
