ABOUT THE PRODUCT
 The software system will be an Automated Testing System for
the company’s product named TransFort. This system will be
designed to maximize the tester’s productivity by providing
tools to assist in automating the test procedure. By
maximizing the test engineer’s work efficiency and
production the system will meet the needs while remaining
easy to understand and use.
 Arcot TransFort Automation suite solves the problem of
creating and maintaining regression test cases for the
TransFort product. The goal of the suite is to design and
implement a framework that will make it easy to write/modify
test cases. The product/solution will also implement all the
test cases that are now being executed manually by the test
engineers.
ABOUT TRANSFORT
 Co-developed by Visa and Arcot, the 3-D Secure
protocol provides a simple yet effective way to protect
against fraudulent online transactions. Arcot TransFort
provides rapid compliance with the 3-D Secure protocol
and verifies the identity of cardholders during a card not
present purchase.
REQUIREMENTS
 Record/Playback Test Creation: The solution must allow creation of test
cases using a record and playback mechanism, with the ability to
edit/modify and test the script manually.
 Robust Object and Control Recognition: In the record and play back test
creation one significant requirement is to have a robust object and control
recognition, meaning if the label of the object/control or position changes
the scripts should not break.
 The system must allow the user to specify the data required to drive the test
case outside the test case definition or code.
 System must allow running a subset of test cases independently
 System must allow the entire product suite without any manual
intervention.
 System must capture relevant results of each test run.
REQUIREMENTS (CONTD..)
 System must report the result of the test case execution. It can be one of the following
values: Pass/Fail/Not-Executed. The use or value of the automation testing will
depend on the reports generated by the automated testing solution. Testers will look
for usefulness of the information provided by the reports. If there is an option to drill
down for the root causes, it will be an added advantage.
 System must support multiple browsers
 System must allow easy scripting of test cases in a standard language that reduces the
learning curve.
 Test Script Maintenance: During the initial releases using the automation scripts may
be easy. However as the product grows and functionalities get modified, the system
must make it easy to maintain the script even in the changed UI, data-sources, running
against multiple installations, etc
 Support for Version Control: The benefit of using version control in developing
software doesn’t need any explanations. The same applies for test scripts created
either by application or by manual process. The system should provide a mechanism
to check-in these scripts into a version control system.
