1. Asking Questions To Show Interest
• When we have a conversation, it is polite to show interest in what the other person is saying. Sometimes,
we use an expression of interest followed by a question to find out more information.
• EXAMPLES:
A: My vacation was fabulous. I’m so relaxed now.
B: Good for you. Do you have any photos?

A: The movie was just awful!


B: Oh, that’s too bad. What didn’t you like about it?

2. Making Small Talk
• When people do not know each other well, they can be friendly by making small talk. One way to make
