WHY LTE SUB-CARRIERS SPACING 15 KHZ
There are two factors that constrain the selection of the OFDM subcarrier spacing:

• The OFDM subcarrier spacing should be as small as possible (Tb as large as Possible)
• A too small subcarrier spacing increases the sensitivity of the OFDM transmission to
Doppler shift.

For 1.4 Mhz Carrier

• Sampling rate = 1.92 Msample per sec

• Sample duration = 1/ 1920000 = .52 x 10-6 sec
• And as symbol = 128 sample
• Symbol duration = 128 x 52 usec = 66.67 usec
• Subcarrier spacing = 1/ symbol duration = 15000 Hz

FOR 1.4 MHZ CARRIER ( LONG CP )

• No. of slots per sec = 1 / .5 msec = 2000 slot

• No. of samples per slot = 1.92 M /2000 = 960 sample / slot

• 1.4 Mhz  128 IFFT size

• Long CP = ¼ symbol = 32

• Symbol = 128 + 32 = 160 sample

• No. of symbols per slot = 960 / 160 = 6 symbol

LTE DL PEAK RATE
Assume short cp and 20Mhz BW

• RB = 7 symbols x 12 Subcarriers =84 RE

• 20 MHz = 100 sub-channel

• 1 sec = 2000 slot

BUT THIS
RATE IN
• Rate = 100 x 84x2000 = 16800000 RE / sec
NOT REAL
• For 64 QAM RE = 6 bit

• Rate = 16800000 x 6 = 100.8 Mbps

• For 4x4 MIMO Rate = 403.3 Mbps

LTE LOGICAL CHANNELS
Control channels: these LTE control channels carry the control plane information:
• Broadcast Control Channel (BCCH) :   This control channel provides system
information to all mobile terminals connected to the eNodeB.
• Paging Control Channel (PCCH) :   This control channel is used for paging
information when searching a unit on a network.
• Common Control Channel (CCCH) :   This channel is used for random access
information
• Multicast Control Channel (MCCH) :   This control channel is used for
Information needed for multicast reception.
• Dedicated Control Channel (DCCH) :   This control channel is used for
carrying user-specific control information, e.g. for controlling actions
including power control, handover, etc..
Traffic channels: These LTE traffic channels carry the user-plane data:
• Dedicated Traffic Channel (DTCH) :  User data
• Multicast Traffic Channel (MTCH) :   Multicast data
