Sarojini Naidu was an Indian political activist, feminist, and poet who served as the first governor of the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh. She was born in 1879 and nicknamed the "Nightingale of India" for her poetic skills. Naidu participated in the Indian independence movement and the Salt Satyagraha of 1930 led by Mahatma Gandhi.
