Student's book (Coursebook)
is used regularly by learners in the class. It usually contains grammar, vocabulary and skills
work and follows a syllabus.
Teacher's book
accompanies the coursebook, and contains teaching ideas, audio scripts and answers to coursebook activities.

Bilingual dictionary
1) where the word and its meaning are in different languages
2) uses translation from one language into another language for definitions and examples
Monolingual dictionary

 1) where the word and its meaning are in the same language
 2) uses only the target language for headwords, definitions, examples etc.
Worksheet

 piece of paper with an exercise or task for learners to complete


Progress test

 test is used during a course in order to assess the learning up to a particular point in the
course. Teachers might set progress tests weekly or in the middle of a course
Photocopiables

 practice material for teachers to photocopy


Language awareness

 1) is understanding of how language works.


 2) is explicit knowledge about language and conscious perception and sensitivity in
language learning , language teaching and language use.
 3) A teacher's or learner's knowledge about language; an understanding of the rules of how
language works and how it is used.
Teacher's language awareness

 is knowledge that teachers have of underlie system of the language that enables them to
teach effectively.
