Why has CHS invested in DA?

•The outlook of US healthcare system towards its customer was changing . It was
more focused on providing fee for value instead of fee for service.
•CHS wanted to focus on improving the customer outcome rather than focusing on
increasing the revenue.
•Also in the healthcare market there was an increase in competition with many of
the consumer tech companies entering because of which CHS thought that
integrating their healthcare data with a company that has the required analytical
capabilities and whom the consumer will trust for future use should be the need of
the hour. Therefore as DA was a key industrial player in the healthcare analytics
sector CHS had decided to invest in DA.
•Also CHS was planning to renew their strategic roadmap for further growth thus
this integration with DA was key step in sending the communication to the outside
world regarding CHS future initiatives.
•DA was capable of developing analytical tools which catered to requirements such
as evidence based population health management, personalized patient care &
predictive modelling which was used to provide support to CHS affiliated hospitals
in delivering best-in class service to the patients.
•Thus because of the above reasons instead of relying on various analytical skills
scattered across CHS it had decided to invest in DA by creating a centralized group
to manage all CHS’s analytics related needs.

How successful has DA been so far? Why?

•DA was enormously successful since its launch. Soon after its launch due to its
success the amount of requests it was receiving had surpassed its capacity. It had
started to support a wide range of customers right from CHS-affliated hospitals
,Governmnet,Payers,Patients etc. The reason behind DA’s enormous success can be
contributed to the following reasons:-
•In DA there was a strong data governance structure in place which helped it to
handle vast amount of data efficiently and thereby adopting an evidence based
approach.
•DA was committed to build a continuous and strong relationship with the
physicians and the nurses which played a very vital role owing to its huge
success.
•In order to manage the overcapacity of requests it received after its launch it
created a priority setting process enabled with predictive modelling techniques.
•DA’s key focus was to improve customer outcomes rather that increasing
revenue.
•DA made efficient use of the data collected of CHS at various points based on
which it suggested the recommendations which was further implemented by
the physicians.
•DA focused on improving the quality of outcome by engaging the customer to
change their behavior with the help of their efficient communication strategy.

What are Dulin’s most important challenges going forward?

• Dulin was hired in CHS for executing CHS’s renewal strategic plan of creating
a centralized data driven system enabled with all analytical capabilities.
• The launch of DA2 received huge investments for its infrastructure and Dulin
faced the challenge of identifying the ways of recovering these investment
amount by generating profits through external business opportunities.
• DA2 was primarily occupied with requests that was internal to the
organization and it was non-revenue generating requests, Dulin was facing it
difficult to test DA2’s capability to handle external customers due to its highly
occupied work pipeline by internal requests.
• Dulin had the responsibility on deciding which of the existing pilot projects
could be extended for the related issues in the organization without minimal
redesigning.
• DA2 was constantly generating most of the insights with the help of
interactive reports. The possibility of translation the insights gained into
actionable items proved to be a major challenge which Dulin had to address.
