"What Is A Concept Map?" by (Novak & Cañas, 2008)

An excellent concept map has high clarity, communicates key ideas with a clear message, and is explanatory rather than descriptive. Concept maps come in different types including spider maps for developing a single concept or theme further, flowcharts for processes or decision making, system maps for understanding how a system functions, and hierarchy maps to show components and their positions. Concept mapping can play important roles in developing students' critical thinking skills in science and remediating understanding of chemical phenomena.
