 Understand the necessity of information and network


security.
 Explain how security measures are used.
 Understand the importance of network security
management.
 Understand the appropriate security measures against
expected threats.
Course Contents

• Cryptographic techniques: classical cryptography, public-key


cryptography, and digital signatures.
• Security services: message integrity, confidentiality and
authentication, certification and key management (PKI).
• Network security applications: IP security, Web security (SSL),
and Electronic mail security (PGP).
• Access control in computer networks: authentication protocols
and services (e.g. Kerberos and X.509)
 Malicious software propagation, payload, countermeasures,
DDoS
 Intrusion detection, password management
 Firewalls
