years. Must be pertinent

TYPES OF RESUMES

b. Functional.
c. Targeted
d. capabilities.
Types of resumes.. (cont..)
Every person’s career history is different.

Also, the job aspirations of every individual is

different.

Thus, it is important to consider the style to use while

applying for a job.
CRONOLOGICAL RESUME
You should use a chronological CV when you are starting
off on your career path, looking for first or second job

When you are staying in the same field rather than

making a major career change.

when you have progressed steadily up a standard career

ladder.

when you have worked for the same company for most of
your career, even though you may have had several
different kinds of job within that company.
FUNCTIONAL RESUME
A functional CV is also a good choice when you are
looking for your first professional job

when you are making a fairly major career change.

If you have changed employers frequently, followed a

less traditional career path

Also useful in case a person has signed a non-

disclosure agreement with existing or previous
employer
TARGETED RESUME
It is best suited for a specific job

Certain questions to be answered while writing it are :-

i. what have you done that is relevant to your target job?
ii. Are you proud of what you have achieved?
iii.Have you achieved anything in another field that is
relevant to your target job?
iv.What do you do that demonstrates your ability to work
with people?
CAPABILITES RESUME
 When you want a specific job or assignment within
your current organization

 For a capabilities CV, you first need to learn all you

can about the internal job that you are applying for

Then come up with between five and eight

accomplishments that you have recently achieved that
are relevant to this particular job opening

Highlight your capabilities!

MISTAKES TO BE AVOIDED
You send an old Resume because its all you have got

Your Resume is too ‘busy’ and hard to read

- Avoid long sentences, complex paragraphs and too many
words on the page.

You oversell

You do not follow up

- If you said you would phone to set up an appointment in your
covering letter, you must note the date down and follow it up
MISTAKES TO BE AVOIDED
You do not use any particular format
- Can customize it to the situation

Do not lie about your qualifications and

achievements

The flow of the resume should not be haphazard.

Present your CV professionally and legibly. ample
white space in the resume for a neat look

Do not forget to keep your target reader in mind!

OBSERVATION..
A winning Resume is not one that gets you the job
— it is one that gets you the interview and so
helps you get your foot in the door. For most
recruiters, asking for Resumes forms a preliminary
'sifting' process, whereby they can look out for the
people with the right skills, experience, and
suitability for a given role, and then fix a time to
meet with them in person.
CONCLUSION
You need to create a CV that stands out from the
crowd and that interests a potential employer
enough for them to want to meet you in person.
Remember that you've only a few seconds to
capture someone's attention, and you don't want
it to be for the wrong reasons! Highlight the best
in you. It is YOUR Resume, it is YOUR tool in
YOUR own hands.. be CONFIDENT!

May All of You Get Selected in Your Dream Jobs..

THANK YOU!
