What is Energy Harvesting?
Energy harvesting is the process by which energy is derived from
external sources (e.g., solar power, thermal energy, RF signals, wind
energy etc., also known as ambient energy), captured, and stored
for small, wireless autonomous devices, like those used in wearable
electronics and wireless sensor networks etc.

Power that receive by receiver antenna is alternative in nature, so it is
important to have circuit that can convert the ac power to dc power
since most of solid-state device require a source of dc power to
operate.
To efficient transfer of received RF power by antenna to rectifier
circuit, matching network is needed.
Basically, a rectenna is a type of antenna functioned to rectify
incoming electromagnetics (EM) waves and converting into DC

The maximum power transfer can also achieved through a
reconfigurable matching network, in which the values of some
elements can be adjusted to guarantee the best matching at the
required frequency.
