What is body language
Body language is nonverbal
communication that involves body
movement.
• Gesturing can also be termed as body
language which is absolutely non- verbal
means of communication.
• People in the workplace can convey a
great deal of information without even
speaking; through nonverbal
communication.
Why Is Body Language
importance

Body language plays a big role in


intuition
as it gives us messages about the
other person,
that we can interpret at an
intuitive level.
Smile
Smiling is a universal sign that
someone
is happy. It conveys a message
that you
are not dangerous and asks people
to
accept you on a personal level.
Gesture

GESTURES OR KINESICS “LET YOUR BODY TALK ON YOUR BEHALF”


Eye contact

Eyes are hence, the medium of conveying information about other people’s
attitudes and thoughts.

When you look someone in the eye, you usually provoke some kind of
reaction.
It depends on the parties involved; this emotion is interpreted in
different ways.
That a stranger sees you in the eyes can seem like a threat and cause
fear, but the
look of your girlfriend can make you nervous and interpreted
positively.
Facial expression

The human face is extremely expressive, able to convey countless emotions without
saying a word. And unlike some forms of nonverbal communication, facial
expressions
are universal. The facial expressions for happiness, sadness, anger, surprise, fear,
anddisgust are the same across cultures.
Postures

• Keep your spine straight – while sitting or


standing (posture)
• Keep your arms open, do not cross them across your chest
• While standing, do not cross them behind your body, or
the front of your body
• Don’t touch any part of your body, esp face.
• Sit all the way back in your seat- not on the edge or on one side
• Keep your palms facing upwards
• Maintain eye contact
Positive Body language - importance

Positive body language is a must in workplaces and corporate environment


. Healthy body language can help foster team spirit in the workplace,
which can also boost the morale of the employees. Delegation of
responsibilities becomes easier through positive body language. It can
also help in conveying respect for colleagues and resolving conflicts in
the organization.
Negetive Body language
Negative body language is either a
conscious or
an unconscious expression of negative
feelings
through movements of the body. Being
skilled at
noticing negative body language can
assist one
with personal or professional
relationships and
knowing when another is dissatisfied or
unhappy. It can help to know what
negative
body language to avoid if one wants to
leave a
good impression on an audience or
listener.
Body language can be even more
important
than spoken words
Conclusion
 Body language is an important part of
communication.
It not only support verbal language to be
understand
more clearly, but have itself voice to show
emotion
and message as well. In order to success, people
should
interpret and make used of using body language.
