Project Report: Course Title: Digital Logic Design Lab Course Code: CSE-204

This project report summarizes the design and implementation of a basic fire alarm circuit using a thermistor as the heat sensor. The circuit detects changes in resistance of the thermistor when exposed to heat and triggers a buzzer. Key components include a 10K thermistor, LM358 op-amp, 4.7K resistor, 10K potentiometer, and a 5V buzzer. The thermistor sensitivity can be adjusted using the potentiometer. The circuit provides early fire detection at affordable cost and avoids smoke inhalation, though very high temperatures may not be detected.

Introduction

 Fire Alarm Circuit is a simple circuit that

detects the fire and activates the Siren Sound
or Buzzer. Fire Alarm Circuits are very
important devices to detect fire in the right
time and prevent any damage to people or
property.
Use of fire alarm circuit

In the simplest terms, the role of a fire alarm system is

to detect fires and alert both building occupants and
emergency personnel from a centrally monitored and
controlled location.
Components:
1 x 10 K Thermistorr
1 x LM358 Operational Amplifier (Op – Amp)
1 x 4.7 KΩ Resistor (1/4 Watt)
1 x 10 KΩ Potentiometerr
1 x Small Buzzer (5V Buzzer)
Connecting Wires
Mini Breadboard
5V Power Supply
Construction

In this fire alarm circuit we have used thermistor as a sensing element and
this thermistor value is 10K and comes in NTC (Negative Temperature
Coefficient) which means this thermistor Resistance across two terminals
greatly reduced by heat. In this circuit thermistor sensitivity level can be
varied by VR1 and you need to calibrate according to your need.

Advantages
• Avoid Smoke Inhalation
• Early Detection
• Insurance Discounts
• Everyday and every hour monitoring
• Easy & Affordable
Disadvantages

Very high temparetures are not

acceptable
Conclusion

Fire alarm circuit is very important for us. It gives us sound

when fire attacks on something like industry, hospital ,
electronic shops etc.
