Using the past tense of regular and irregular verbs

For regular verbs


- you only need to add -d or -ed to the verb

For irregular verbs

- you must determine what rule applies to that irregular verb


- most irregular verbs change spelling in their past form while
other irregular verbs maintain their spelling
Identify which of the verbs they used are regular and
irregular verbs.

ADVERBS
Adverbs are a word or a set of words that modifies
verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. It tells when, where,
and how an action is performed and indicates the
quality or degree of the action. Many adverbs end in -ly
but some words which end in -ly (such as friendly) are
not adverbs. Many words can be both adverbs and
adjectives according to how they are used in the
sentence
Types of Adverbs and Examples
from the Dialog:
1. diligently, willingly, very, today, yesterday, always – Adverbs

Adverbial Clause/ Clause Adverb
Study how the underlined words are used in the passage.
Mrs. Smith immediately called the police when she
saw the criminals assaulting the poor boy
aggressively. It was the most horrible scene that
she had ever witnessed in her life. She had always
lived peacefully in that neighborhood. No one had
ever disturbed her quiet nights there.

Adverbs: immediately, aggressively, peacefully, ever, always


Adverbial Phrase: in that neighborhood
Adverbial Clause: when she saw the criminals assaulting the poor boy
Adverb of
1. The adverb of timetime
answers the question “when”
Adverbs of time include after, always, before, during,
early, later, never, now often. rarely, recently,
sometimes, soon, then, today, tomorrow, usually,
yesterday, etc.,
Examples:
Robert will be coming home next week.
We will see him soon.
Adverb of place
2. The adverb of place answers the question “Where”.
Adverbs of place include above, away, below, down, here,
inside, near, outside, there, up, etc.,

Examples:
You may put the clean clothes there.
I will keep the documents here for you.
Adverb of manner
3. The adverb of manner answers the question “How”.
Adverbs of manner include badly, beautifully, better,
bravely, cheerfully, fast, hard, quickly, slowly, inadequately,
well, etc.

Examples:
Sally does her work fast.
She also works carefully all the time.
A. Direction: Rearrange the words from each star to
complete a sentence. Write your answer on your answer
sheet and underline the adverb of manner.
