Integrative Learning Approaches

The document discusses different active learning approaches: inquiry-based learning, problem-based learning, and project-based learning. Inquiry-based learning involves asking questions and finding answers through active participation. Problem-based learning engages learners in solving open-ended real-world problems. Project-based learning involves a series of planned tasks to solve real-world problems based on constructivist learning theories. The approaches aim to improve content knowledge and problem solving skills using authentic scenarios. Technology tools can assist with tasks and outputs from these active learning activities.

OBJECTIVES:
At the end of discussion, you are expected to:

• Discuss the concepts of the different learning approaches in your field of specialization;
• Discuss how information and communication technologies will help develop and present
your field of specialization using the different active learning approaches;

• Brainstorm on the possible products or outputs that will serve as an evidence of learning
plan using Integrative approaches

• Integrate learning activities in the development of learning plans.

INQUIRY-BASED LEARNING
•  A process of asking question.

• The process of inquiry is a basic learning activity

that every teacher is expected to facilitate.

• Involves tasks requiring learners' active participation

in finding answers to curricular questions.
WHEN TO USE?
• Mathematics:
IBI can help students focus on how to solve problems in different
but logical ways.

• Science:
IBI can help students focus on how to solve problems,
experimentation, and research.

• Social Science/ Studies:

IBI provide an in-depth information, trends, and issues.
TYPES OF INQUIRY
1. Structure inquiry - this lets the students follow the lead of
the teacher as the entire class engages in one inquiry together.
2. Controlled inquiry - the teacher chooses topics and
identifies the resources the students will use to answer
questions.
3. Guided inquiry- the teacher chooses topics or questions and
students design the product or solution.
4. Free inquiry- students are allowed to choose their own
topics without any reference to a prescribed outcome.
TEACHER TECHNOLOGY

• Prior knowledge and capacity

• Content
It should be noted that the use of
• Content Learning Materials
technology in IBL is just one of
• Process the many other sources of
• Strategy of Reactions and inforation.
Behavior

• Course Outcomes
PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING
• Problem-based learning is an approach that involves a
process of inquiry and solving open-ended questions that
serve as the main problem that the learners will work on.

•  Approach but has evolved as a teaching  method that

engages learners in a series of planned tasks resulting to the
generation of solutions to real-world problems.

• It is a student-centered approach as it takes into account the

realm of experiences and interest of students.
BENEFITS OF PBL
• In teaching field of specialization, classroom
environment becomes open and safe.

• Aims to improve students’ content knowledge and

problem solving skills using authentic problems.

• Construct your own learning through collaborative

works.
ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY

•Productivity tools
-intended for writing, presentations, spreadsheets,
calendars, organizers, citations, and others are also
available to assist learners and teachers in
accomplishing required tasks and outputs from PBL
Activities.
PROJECT-BASED LEARNING
• Project-based learning is an approach but has
evolved as a teaching  method that engages learners
in a series of planned tasks resulting to the
generation of solutions to real-world problems.

• This method is based on john Dewey's principle of

learning by doing and Vygotsky's constructivist
theory of learning that advocates social construction
of knowledge.
BENEFITS OF PROJECT-BASED APPROACH

• Research methodology skills

• Critical thinking skills
• Development of life skills.
