A muscular bag-like organ at the
end of the esophagus. It
squeezes the food and mixes it
with the gastric juices through
peristalsis until it becomes thick

liver
Release bile which is stored in the gall
bladder. Bile helps digest fats.

gallbladder
Stores and concentrates bile from liver
Stores, concentrate undigested matter by
absorbing water and salts; mixes and
propels materials forward
Lubricates undigested residues

Rectum
Distension triggers defecation reflex that
rids body of undigested and unabsorbed
residues
