As Evaluator of Research Findings

The roles of a researcher include being a principal investigator, member of a research team, identifier of research problems, evaluator of research findings, user of research findings, and advocate for patients or clients. As an evaluator, a researcher must critically evaluate research findings to determine their effectiveness and potential for improvement. Researchers should evaluate findings by assessing their currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose. Proper evaluation ensures research provides useful information and identifies areas for enhanced future studies.

1
ROLES OF THE RESEARCHER
As stated by Nieswiadomy (2005):
1) As principal investigator
2) As member of a research team
3) As identifier of researchable problems
4)As evaluator of research findings
5) As user of research findings
6) As patient or client advocate during study
7) As subject/ respondent/ participant

2
AS EVALUATOR OF
RESEARCH FINDINGS
Role of the Researcher

3
WHAT IS RESEARCH FINDINGS?
Research Findings are the information that the
researcher get or the conclusions they come to as
the result of research.

4
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF AN EVALUATOR OF
RESEARCH FINDINGS?
Evaluators are the one who is actually studying
the different approaches of the conducting
evaluation of the research findings.

Evaluators seek to understand what information

is important to collect and review and how to best
use the findings to relate outcomes to stakeholders.

5
They are the ones who weigh the knowledge produced by the
research that they will evaluate. They also have a rubric as a
basis on how to evaluate.

The primary aim of the role of the evaluator is to provide

positive and motivating feedback that allows the speaker to
develop their trust and speaking skills.

The functions of evaluators and researchers are distinct and

different in an ideal world. But, given the criteria for funded
projects to deliver results that educate the industry, evaluators
are often exploring new information.

6
WHY DOES A RESEARCHER
SHOULD ALSO BE AN
EVALUATOR OF RESEARCH
FINDINGS?
7
Researcher must be the evaluator of the
research findings to determine its effectiveness,
what works well, and what could be improved in a
program or initiative. From the result of the
calculation itself, researcher could think critically
about whether it is factual and reliable or not.

8
■ An evaluator is seen as a judge of a project’s merits,
which assumes a perspective that a “right” outcome
exists. Yet inherent in the role of evaluation are the
values held by the evaluator.

■ Evaluators seek to understand what information is

important to collect and review and how to best use the
findings to relate outcomes to stakeholders.

9
The evaluator should be strictly when it comes
on research findings, evaluator should be seen
whether the information obtained by the
researchers is correct. Evaluator must be
determined what has happened during a given
activity or institution and as an evaluator it is
necessary to find out if the given task of the
researchers is effective.

10
Evaluators have to look into which information
collected is useful for the study and evaluates the
project/the study if there are some things to be
change or improve for the better outcome of the
research. Evaluator shares information and
feedback that will help to create a more significant
study.

11
HOW DO YOU
EVALUATE A
RESEARCH FINDINGS?

12
HOW DO YOU EVALUATE A RESEARCH FINDINGS?
1) CURRENCY – the timeless of the information

2) RELEVANCE – the importance of the information for your needs

3) AUTHORITY – the source of the information

4) ACCURACY – the reliability, truthfulness and correctness of the information

5) PURPOSE – the reason the information exists

13
Evaluation research is both detailed and
continuous. It pays attention to performative
processes rather than description. The goal of
evaluation is to determine whether a process has
yielded the desired result.

14
IMPORTANT
REMINDER!
As a researcher, it is also important that you know
how toCREDITS:
evaluate, investigate, and identify everything
