INTRODUCTION
 The impact when a motorcyclist involves in a high-speed accident without
wearing a helmet is very dangerous and can cause fatality.
 Wearing a helmet can reduce shock from the impact and may save a life.
 There are many countries enforcing a regulation that requires the
motorcycle's rider to wear a helmet when riding on their motorcycle,
Malaysia is an example. It also detects alcohol.
 Also Temperature sensor in helmet is used to detect Temperature of
Driving Person.
 A smart helmet is a special idea which makes motorcycle driving safer
than before. The working of this smart helmet is very simple, vibration
sensors are placed in different places of helmet where the probability of
hitting is more which are connected to microcontroller board. So when
the rider crashes and the helmet hit the ground, these sensors sense and
gives to the microcontroller board, then controller extract GPS data using
the GPS module that is interfaced to it. When the data exceeds minimum
stress limit then GSM module automatically sends message to ambulance
or family members.

OBJECTIVE

 The objectives of this project are to design the

circuit that can improve safety of motorcyclists,
to develop a smart safety helmet for complete
ride.

5
MOTIVATION
 The motivation of this project comes from the real-world
challenges that we face daily on the roads. Road accidents are on
the rise day by day and in countries like India where bikes are
more prevalent many people die to carelessness carried in wearing
helmets.
 In present day scenario we encounter numerous cases of death due
to two-wheeler road accidents. Despite of the fact that helmets
are available everywhere, people are not wearing them.
 In the event of road accidents, the message is sent to the
emergency contact through GSM.

DESCRIPTION
 In the helmet section, the PIR sensors detect the presence of
helmet on the user head; the alcohol sensor detects the alcohol
levels in the biker body. The microcontroller continuously
monitors the sensors values. If the biker doesn’t wear the helmet
the PIR sensors will inform the microcontroller. In case if the biker
doesn’t have the helmet, the ignition key doesn’t allow the bike to
start.

 In case of accident it sends location data to hospital and family

members

● Most used board in the family of Arduino boards.
● 8-bit Microcontroller
● Can be programmed with the Arduino IDE
● Works on a 16 MHz Clock
● 14 digital input/output pins
● 6 PWM outputs
● 6 Analog inputs
● USB to serial converter
Bluetooth Module
This is a serial Bluetooth module. Use it to send and receive wireless
serial data through Bluetooth. The HC05 module can be used to receive
serial data from phones, computers, laptops and other HC05 modules.

 Features
 Input Voltage: 3V-6V DC
 Tx and Rx lines operate at 3V3, it is known to work at 5V TTL also but
it is strictly not recommended
 Supports serial speed from 1200 to 1382400 bps (default is 9600 bps)
 Range: ~30m
 Bluetooth Specification v2.0+EDR
 Module can be programmed through serial AT commands to change the
module's parameters
Alcohol Sensor

 Features
 Signal output light indicator.
 Analog and level signal output.
 TTL output valid signal is low. (When the output low signal light
can be directly connected microcontroller or relay module).
 The carbon monoxide detection with better sensitivity.
 It has a long service life and reliable stability.
 Rapid response recovery features.

13
PIR Sensor

 Wide operating voltage range: default voltage DC 3.6V - 20v

 Temperature compensation (optional, not factory setting): in the
summer, when the ambient temperature rises to 30 - 32, detection
distance is slightly shorter, temperature compensation can be used
for certain performance compensation
 High output signal: the circuit can be easily implemented with
various docking
 Micro power: quiescent current <50 micro amps, especially for
battery powered automatic control products

14
Accelerometer

 ADXL345 Tripple Axis Accelerometer Board is a small, thin,

low power, 3-axis accelerometer with high resolution (13-bit)
measurement at up to ±16g. Digital output data is format as
16-bit twos complement and is accessible through either an
SPI (3- or 4-wire) or I2C digital interface.
 The ADXL345 Tripple Axis Accelerometer Board is well suited
for mobile device applications. It measures the static
acceleration of gravity in tilt-sensing applications, as well as
dynamic acceleration resulting from motion or shock. Its high
resolution (4 mg/LSB) enables measurement of inclination
changes less than 1.0°. 15

ADVANTAGES
• It makes the process simpler.
• It makes our work more cordiblle.
• It makes us to do many task on a single go.
• We can monitor the process on smartphone.
• It can lead to smart system development, hence the devices can
response to any change in the stimulus automatically
CONCLUSION
 We have provided a very effective solution to develop an
intelligent system for vehicles for alcohol detection, accident
detection and proper authentication whose core is Arduino. Since
sensor has fine sensitivity range around 2 meters, it can suit to any
vehicle and can easily be hidden front the suspects. The whole
system has also an advantage of small volume and more reliability.
As the growing public perception is that vehicle safety is more
important, advances in public safety is gaining acceptance than in
the past.
 Future scope of this system is to control the accidents causes due
to alcohol consumption and leads to death if helmet not weared.
This system improves the safety of human being. And hence
providing the effective development in the automobile industry
regarding to reduce the accidents cause due to alcohol.
