Junior FINEX Committee serves as the vehicle of the FINEX to support the activities of Finance organizations of students in different schools and universities particularly to promote awareness in financial management. Initiatives: - Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition (ICFC) - now on its 13th year - Campus Tour Talks - On the Job Training/Job Placement

Objectives of the ICFC: Expose Schools and universities to worldclass finance education standards y Serve as a bellwether to ascertain the quality and level of finance education nationwide y Provide a forum for identifying and developing the nations emerging financial elite and their graduates y Promote networking and friendship, ideas exchange, and cooperation among participants

Launched in 1999 by Finexs Junior Finex Committee y Started with less than 17 competing Schools, all from Metro Manila y By the 4th year became nationwide with the most prestigious schools participating in nationwide eliminations held at different venues in Manila, Cebu and Cagayan de Oro

5th edition had simultaneous eliminations in 3 venues through the marvels of the Internet y 6th edition in 2004 had 79 schools representing the very best in Finance and Business Education from all over the Philippines y 9th edition saw the participation of Singapore Management University, the first step towards the internationalization of the contest

InterInter-Collegiate Finance Competition


10th edition three (3) additional international school from Southeast Asia participated for the contest. y 11th edition involved eighty-five (85) participating schools nationwide . y Chulalongkorn University and Assumption University both from Thailand; National University of Singapore all competed for the ICFC. y 12th edition the first in the history of ICFC, a provincial university won the annual competition - University of the Philippines, Iloilo.

Team Composition (Eliminations)


y

Minimum of three (3) and maximum of five (5) members Enrolled as a regular student (at least 12 units) Participants in any prior ICFC competition are disqualified to compete During the competition 3 are onstage, while 2 serve as alternates Substitutions could only be done in between rounds Contestants should bring their School IDs

Team Composition (Finals)

Maximum of three (3) members All members should have represented the school in the Eliminations There will be no substitutions allowed in the Finals except to fill in and complete the team

Competition Procedure
y y

The Quizmaster will draw a number from the fish bowl. The corresponding numbered envelope with the question will be distributed to each team. Upon signal by the Quizmaster, the teams shall simultaneously open their envelopes. The Quizmaster will then read the first portion of the question once before the teams are given the go-signal to commence solving the question. At the end of the time limit, all teams (all venues) will be asked to hold up their Answer Cards at the same time. The Chairman of the Board of Judges or his duly appointed representative will then give the right answer to the Quizmaster by raising the correct Answer Card. After all the cards are raised and the correct answer given by the Judges, the Quiz Master will ask those with wrong answers to put down their cards to make it easier for the auditors to mark and tally the scores of the team(s) with correct answers. NOBODY WILL BE ALLOWED TO RAISE HIS OR HER CARDS ANEW ONCE THEY HAVE BEEN PUT DOWN.

Protests and Queries

Protests and queries must be filed by any of the team members actively participating in the round to the attention of or addressed to the Chairman of the Board of Judges of the concerned site immediately prior to the next question Teachers, coaches, school officials, and other team members not currently participating in the specific round are all barred from raising questions. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and all participating teams must abide by its decision The Board of Judges has the prerogative to penalize any unacceptable behavior of the contestants via point deductions.

Qualifying for the Finals

Twenty (20) local schools will qualify for the finals Schools will be divided into groups. There will be a minimum of 5 groups representing Metro Manila, Luzon, and the 3 regional sites. The top team from each group will automatically qualify In case there is a tie for the first place in a group, the tie will be immediately resolved After the cast of topnotchers have been determined, all remaining schools will be ranked according to their total scores The remaining top scoring schools will qualify until a roster of 20 finalists is completed. All tiebreakers are resolved using the Sudden Death format The 20 local finalists will be joined by invited international schools in the Finals.
