Super Computer

A supercomputer is a computer with a high level of performance compared to a general purpose computer. Supercomputers are used for highly complex tasks like modeling climate change, mapping the human genome, and simulating nuclear weapons. They provide decreased processing times and allow tasks to be performed in seconds that would take regular computers much longer. However, supercomputers require large spaces, cost millions of dollars, consume massive amounts of electricity, and contain thousands of computer chips.

Super computer

 1. A super computer is a computer with a high level of performance compared to a general

purpose computer.
 All of the world fastest 500 super computer run linux-based operating system.
 super computer plays vital role in the field of computational science.
 A typical super computer takes up large amount of electrical power.
History of super computer

 Beginnings: 1950s and 1960s. The term "Super Computing" was first used in the
New York World in 1929 to refer to large custom-built tabulators that IBM had
made for Columbia University. In 1957, a group of engineers left Sperry
Corporation to form Control Data Corporation (CDC) in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
 Supercomputers were introduced in the 1960s, and for several decades the fastest
were made by Seymour Cray at Control Data Corporation (CDC),
 The CDC 6600, designed by Seymour Cray, was finished in 1964 and marked the
transition from germanium to silicon transistors. Silicon transistors could run
more quickly and the overheating problem was solved by introducing
refrigeration to the supercomputer desige
Usage of super computer

 Usually super computer are used for highly tasks.

 Super computer are perfect for tackling big scientific problems.
 Traditional uses for supercomputers have been in oil and gas exploration, converting
seismic data into maps that indicate where or gas wells.
 National Security Agency and similar government intelligence agencies all over the world
use supercomputers to monitor communications between private citizens, or from
suspected terrorist
 Supercomputers are not used for things like web service hosting, app hosting or general
business computing that continually run. For example, you would not run your website or
a spreadsheet on a supercomputer.
Advantages of super computer

 The primary advantage of super computer decreased processing time

 Super computer helps to perform any task in seconds
 Improving safety
 Solving new problems
 Calculate everything in seconds

 protecting of the security of our nation from cyberattacks.

Disadvantages of super computer

 Required large area

 Very costly ($19.5million)
 Required more electricity
 Large number of chips (37,376)
