Letter Writing

A letter is a written message that can be handwritten or printed on paper. It is usually


sent to the recipient via mail or post in an envelope, although this is not a requirement as
such. Any such message that is transferred via post is a letter, a written conversation
between two parties.

Formal Letter: These letters follow a certain pattern and formality. They are strictly kept
professional in nature, and directly address the issues concerned. Any type of business
letter or letter to authorities falls within this given category.
Informal Letter: These are personal letters. They need not follow any set pattern or
adhere to any formalities. They contain personal information or are a written
conversation. Informal letters are generally written to friends, acquaintances, relatives
etc.
STRUCTURE OR FORMAT OF A

Name and address of the person writing the letter.

Name and address of the person you are writing the letter to.

4.Salutation
Dear Sir / Dear Madam

5.Body-
The body of the letter is divided into three paragraphs.
First para is the introduction or opening sentence of the body ,referring to the subject–preferably in 2 lines
Second para is the description / body of the subject , preferably 3-4 lines
Third para is the conclusion of the subject, sum up what you want to say in a precise manner.- preferably 2 lines

7.Signature & Name


Write your FULL NAME followed by signature below the subscription for formal letter

Subject: Heavy and damaging noise pollution in the city.

Respected Sir,
 
I would like to draw your attention of the concerned authorities towards the increasing problems of noise pollution. It is causing great damage to the health of our
people in the city. It leads to irritation, loss of sleep .It is harmful to the physical and mental health of the people. Persistent noise pollution causes loss of sense of
hearing.
Increasing noise pollution is a threat to health and fitness of people, which will affect their hearing capacity. The honking of vehicles, loudspeakers, construction
work and many other factors increasing the noise in the city, ignoring and violating the noise control laws.
It is time the authorities take action and strictly enforce the noise control laws. The noise producing factories in the residential areas should be shifted to far-off places.
The use of loudspeakers should be stopped after a specific time.
I sincerely hope that the concerned authorities will take immediate and necessary action against those responsible for noise pollution to relieve the people from
harmful effects of noise pollution.
