HAEYWH Judaism - the first and oldest of the three great monotheistic faiths, is the religion and way of life of the Jewish people. The most important teaching and tenet of Judaism is that there is one God, incorporeal and eternal, who wants all people to do what is just and merciful. As a religion and culture, Judaism has three notable founding figures or patriarchs, namely, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob Yahweh: The Jewish name for God. Jews view this name as sacred. Abraham – father of the Hebrew people; set them on the path of monotheism. Isaac - is one of the three patriarchs of the Israelites and is an important figure in Abrahamic religions, such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Moses - One of Judaism's great figures is the man called Moshe Rabbenu ('Moses our teacher') in Hebrew. The first five books of the Bible are traditionally ascribed to him. Moses is the channel between God and the Hebrews, through whom the Hebrews received a basic charter for living as God's people. Torah - refers to the five books of Moses which are known in Hebrew. It is the central and most important document of Judaism and has been used by Jews through the ages. The Ten Commandments

10 commandments? The Ten Commandments The Ten Commandments are a set of absolute laws given by God to Moses at the biblical Mount Sinai that shall govern the life of every Israelite. Inscribed on two stone tablets, these commandments present God’s complete and enduring standard for morality. The first tablet deals a person’s with relationship with the Divine (God). The second tablet deals with a person’s relationship with other people. The commandments include instructions to worship only God, to honour one's parents, and to keep the sabbath day holy, as well as prohibitions against idolatry, blasphemy, murder, adultery, theft, dishonesty, and coveting. The 10 Commandments in Exodus 20:2-17 1. “I am the LORD your God, You shall have no other gods before Me”. The First Commandment is about Loyalty. It is the first of a series of four that define our relationship with our Heavenly Father. 2. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath”. The Second Commandments is about Worship. 3. “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain”. The Third Commandment is about Reverence. 4. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy”. The Fourth Commandment is about Sanctification and Relationship. 5. “Honor your father and your mother”. The Fifth Commandment is about Respect for Parental authority. 6. “You shall not murder”. The Sixth Commandment is about Respect for Human life 7. “You shall not commit adultery”. The Seventh Commandment is about Purity in Relationships. 8. “You shall not steal.”. The Eighth Commandment is about Honesty. 9. “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor”. The Ninth Commandment is about Truthfulness. 10. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife”. The Tenth Commandment is about Contentment.
