Engineering Mechanics: Statics of Deformable Bodies

The document provides information about a Statics of Rigid Bodies course, including its objectives, outline, grading system, and exam rubric. The course aims to provide fundamental concepts of forces, moments, and equilibrium to solve statically determinate problems. It will be graded based on class standing (quizzes and activities) and a major exam. The grading scale ranges from 1.00 for outstanding to 5.00 for passing. The exam rubric evaluates organization, illustrations, calculations, and neatness.

Statics of Rigid Bodies
 A basic engineering science course of solid
mechanics dealing with bodies that are remain at
rest.
 It is designed to provide fundamental concepts
about forces, moments and couples and their
systems.
 The concept of resultants and equilibrium of forces
and moments is utilized to enable solution of
statically determinate problems.
Course Objectives
 Understand the concepts of forces and
moments of forces;
 Apply the principles of statics equilibrium from
the knowledge of resultants of forces and
moments.
 Relate the course to other engineering
situations that involve the concepts of forces
and moments of forces.
