WHAT IS T.A.?
First of all let us see what is T A?
T.A. is a compensatory allowance granted to a G S to cover the expenses
incurred by him in travelling in the public interest.
PAY FOR TA
Pay drawn in Level of pay matrix at the time of journey performed for Tour or pay
drawn at the time of Transfer or Retirement.
T A Rules
These Rules are called the Supplementary Rules and are applicable to all
central govt. employees who are subject to Fundamental Rules and whose pay is
debitable to Central Revenues.
Supplementary Rules
There are 1 to 195 Rules in the Supplementary Rules which are divided in to Six
Divisions.
REGULATION OF T.A. CLAIM
T A claim of a government servant are regulated with reference to the pay
drawn in a particular Level of the post actually held at the time of journey
performed.
Grade of Government Servants applicable
w.e.f.1.7.2017
For the purpose of T A government servants have been categorised
in to five grades as per their Levels in pay matrix as under:

-Journey on tour may start from Office or Residence at HQ as the case may be,
let us see what will be the entitlement.
Actual Charges
In case of a Sports Person ? Gr. C & D employees taking part in sports are
allowed to travel one class higher.
In case using a longer route partly by higher Fare will be reimbursed on proportionately
class partly by lower ? basis as per entitlement by shortest route.

In Class X Cities, the ceiling for all employees up to level 8 would be Rs.1000
per day on production of relevant vouchers.
REIMBURSEMENT OF TRAVEL WITH IN CITY and
FOOD CHARGES
Travel with in city:
For level 8 and below, the amount of claim upto the ceiling may be paid without
production of vouchers on the basis of self certificate.
For levels 11 and below, the ceiling each shall automatically increase by 25%,
when ever D A increases by 50%.
FOOD CHARGES
No separate reimbursement of food bills. No vouchers will be required. This will
be automatically increased 25% when D A increases by 50%

THE CASE OF FOOD CHARGES ONLY

Till now we discussed various points relating to T A on tour. In the next slides
we will discuss the provision relating T A on Transfer of a Government
Servant.
T A Advance exercise
Shri Ravi Section Officer in Ministry of Commerce drew a T A
Advance of Rs.1,00,000 on 1.07.2019 for proceeding on tour on
15.10.2019. Reached HQ on 20.10.2019 after completion of tour.
He submitted TA adjustment bill on 4.11.2019 for Rs.80,000 and
deposited the balance unutilised amount on 15.11.2019.
Calculate the amount of interest payable by him if rate of interest on
GPF is 7.5% p a.

TA ON TRANSFER OF A GOVERNMENT SERVANT
Transfer means the movement of a G.S. From one station HQ to another such
station HQ either to:
-Take up the duties of a new post, or
- In consequence of a change of his HQ.
Admissible only if the transfer is in public interest and not on the request of
G.S.
Admissible by the shortest route from the last place of duty to the new place
where transferred.

T.A. ON RETIREMENT -ENTITLEMENT

T A under different circumstances
Now we will discuss the admissibility of T A under different circumstances
When HQ changed while on tour- proceed to new HQ:
Tour up to new HQ;
CTG at prescribed rate;
TA for family and personal effects.
Change of HQ on rejoining duty after leave exceeding
six months
If the leave was on medical grounds or was study leave, full TA as on transfer;
If the leave was on the grounds other than above, no TA for self and family is
admissible; but cost of transportation for personal effects and conveyance will be
admissible.
Taking leave on transit
If the period of leave does not exceed six months, he will be entitled to:
-Fare for self and family from the old station to the station where leave is spent;
-Cost of transportation of personal effects and conveyance from old to new
station.
Govt. servant appointed to a new post while in transit
TA for so much journey which is performed up to the time the new order is
received;
TA from the place of receiving the order to the new place to which he is
transferred;
TA for the family and the cost of personal effects as explained earlier.
T A on compulsory recall from leave
When leave is curtailed by not less than one month, then he is entitled to TA on
tour; from the place recalled;
If leave is curtailed then the TA may be allowed as per discretion of the authority
recalling the G S.
T A for journey in connection with second medical opinion
If a G S is asked to proceed to some other station for second medical opinion, he
will be entitled to T A for the journey period and daily allowance, for the halt at the
outstation, for a maximum period of two days.
T A for joining first post in government
