• Testing process should be measured for its maturity and


improvement.
• Various test maturity models for assessment and improvement of
test process
• Test Improvement Model (TIM)
• Test Process Improvement Model (TPI)
• Test Organization Model (TOM)
• Test Maturity Model (TMM)

Need for Test Process Maturity

• The progress and quality of the whole test process should be


measured, and the results should be used as input for further test
process improvement.
• The testing process steps, i.e. test planning, design, execution,
etc. are in place. There is a systematic flow of these activities in
the organization.
• Provides the important information to the testers and
management enabling them to improve the software quality.
• The model should be able to improve the process such that it
provides the information about the bugs near to their source, i.e.
exact location of their existence leading to minimization of
correction costs.
• The model should be able to improve the process such that it
detects high priority or criticality bugs earlier.
