COT 1 - Math 6 Final

1. The document provides lesson materials for a 6th grade mathematics class on solid figures. It includes activities to identify different solid figures like cubes, prisms, pyramids, cylinders, cones and spheres using models. 2. Students participate in drills and games to differentiate between solid and plane figures and identify the faces of solid figures. They also learn about the characteristics of different solid figures through examples, songs and videos. 3. The lesson concludes with a group activity where students work together to identify the solid figures that make up parts of a robot and present their answers. They also complete an assignment to match real-life objects to examples of solid figures.

Each and everything around us is a solid
shape. Just look at the house we are in, the
solid figures play a key role in building the
house. Look at the desk, the table, your
classmate, so many things in our life, they
are designed by solid figures first. We can
say, it is the solid figure make our life more
artistically.

Cylinder
Let us unfold a box. If we
unfold this box, we will
come up with a closed
plane figure. This two-
dimensional figure is
called a net.
Polyhedron is a solid figure
whose sides are all
polygons. Each side is called
face. Two faces that
intersect in a line segment is
called an edge. Two edges
that intersect in a point is
called a vertex.
Solid figures are three-
dimensional figures that
have length, width and
height. The different
solid figures are the
prism, pyramid,
cylinder, cone and
sphere.
PRISM – A prism is a
polyhedron that has two
congruent parallel faces
called bases. There are
many different kinds of
prisms. A prism is named
according to the shape of
its base.
PYRAMID – is a
polyhedron whose base
is a polygon. Similar to
prism, pyramid is also
named according to the
shape of its base. Its
lateral faces are
triangles.
Other solid figures have curved
surfaces. These are the cylinder,
cone and sphere.

Kuya Geloy bought a
robot for his little sister
Gelai at ICM Tagbilaran
City. He customized
every part of the robot
by putting a design on
each part of the robot.
He wants to challenge his
little sister Angel by asking
her to identify the different
solid figures in each of the
corresponding parts of the
robot. Can we help Gelai
identify the different solid
figures that make up the
robot?
In your same group, help
each other identify the
different solid figure that
make up the robot. Write
your answer on the answer
sheet given.
The first group to paste their
answer on the board shall
have additional points of 3,
the second will received an
additional point of 2 and the
third will received 1 point.

GENERALIZATION
How do we identify the faces of a solid figure?
A face is one of the flat surfaces on a solid
figure.
A plane figure is a flat, two-dimensional
figure.
 A prism is a three-dimensional object with
two congruent parallel bases that are
polygons.
Solid figures are three-dimensional objects
having length, width, and height
A pyramid is three-dimensional object with
a base that is a polygon and triangular faces
that meet at one vertex.
In a sheet of paper, identify the solid figure that is
represented by each real object below. Write the
name of the solid figure ( cube, prism, pyramid,
cylinder, cone and sphere on the blank before each
number.
