How beautiful is the weather today! Mildly shining is the sun. And the day
feels cool. Floating peacefully across the sky are the puffy white clouds.
Gently blowing across the city is the wind. Now is the right time to go
walking.
What can you say about the order of the subject and predicate in the two
descriptions?
normal word order - the subject in the sentence is followed by a
verb.
inverted word order - the verb precedes or comes before its subject.
In an inverted sentence or inversion, the verb comes before the subject.
Some sentences beginning with here and there are not inverted.
Examples: Never has the prisoner eaten better food than when he
was jailed.
Hardly ever does Henry come to class on time..
