Data science, artificial intelligence, and drones are emerging technologies with applications in agriculture, education, and healthcare. • data science is an interdisciplinary field that uses different techniques like algorithms, scientific methods, and different
systems and processes to extract knowledge from different types of data.
• Data science has many applications in different areas, among those areas some are the following

• data science on agriculture:


• in Ethiopia, 85% of the population is engaged in an agricultural activity but the country is continuously affected by chronic
food shortages. To feed this tremendous amount of population, the agriculture sector needs to improve with emerging
technologies like data science. data science can be applied to improve agriculture in many ways and some of them are:
 Weather Forecasting: provide farmers with weather intelligent tools which give predictive models and weather forecasting
that allow farmers to plant, irrigate and harvest at a right time.

 Fertilizer Management: helps farmers in deciding suitable fertilizer to use by analysing soil properties, water composition,
and land type.

 Crop Health: data collected can help to predict certain outcomes like draught expectations, pest issues, consumer demand, and
the ever-changing markets

 There are some ethical issues arises while using big data in agriculture

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
• artificial intelligence is the ability of a computer to perform tasks that are usually done by humans because
they require human intelligence.
• Artificial intelligence has many applications in different areas some of them are
• Artificial intelligence in education
• Personalized learning: students have their way of acquiring knowledge conventional system of learning lacks customized
learning for every unique student which makes students unproductive but with education, software AI the system learns
how the student perceives various lessons and adapts to that process to minimize the burden. apps like brainly and Socratic
are AI-driven education tools.

• 24*7 assistance with conversational AI: with AI-powered tools like chatbots learning at any place at any time is
possible. Examples of this include telegram bots.
• Some ethical issues arise when using AI in education for example:
• Privacy: while using those AI the AI asks users to consent to the program using and accessing personal data in ways they
may or may not understand.
• other ethical issues include Surveillance, Autonomy, Bias, and discrimination.

• AI in Healthcare: Artificial Intelligence has led to the development of several medical software that offers interactive
and customized healthcare services like any-time appointments with doctors. using tools like AI chatbots if the issue is
minor the AI recommends medication otherwise if it is serious, it tells them to go to a doctor.
DRONE(UAV)
• unmanned aerial vehicles or commonly known as drones are aircraft without any piolet which is controlled by
remote systems. In Ethiopia uses of drones was only limited to the military in the last decades but with the vast
applications of drones uses in other countries drone uses are now used in the following:
• • Entertainment: drones can go places where no other devices can go and drones save production budgets,
instead of having to rent out expensive cranes or helicopters a production crew can now use a relatively low-
cost drone to capture a higher-quality shot on film and save a lot of money.
• •Drone transportation in healthcare tools: because they are faster and more affordable than helicopters they
are the best option use for the transportation of medication.
• The first drone-based vaccine delivery in Ethiopia has been successful in 2018.
• While using drone technologies there are some ethical issues that arise drones are creating issues by violating
people’s privacy drone owners use the cameras to record and take pictures without people’s consent. along
with privacy issues, there is a case of drone overload where Aviation pilots worry that a collision with a drone
could bring down an aircraft.
