Engineering

This document provides an introduction to trigonometry topics, including definitions of sine, cosine, and tangent functions using a triangle with sides labeled opposite, adjacent, and hypotenuse. It gives an example of calculating the sine of 35 degrees. It also presents a word problem asking to find the tangent of 40 degrees, showing the work and solution. In conclusion, it discusses how trigonometry is useful in many real-life applications such as astronomy and architecture.

TRIGONOMETRY Sine, Cosine and Tangent

Trigonometry helps us find angles and distances, and it used a lot • The main functions in
in science , engineering and more . trigonometry are sine , cosine and
tangent
adjacent : next to angle θ
opposite : opposite the angle θ
and the longest side is
the hypotenuse

ANSWER :
--------------------------- -----
40°
FORMULA :
tan θ = opposite
adjacent
45
40
tan θ = 45
40° x
X
θ = 40 X = 45
Opposite = 45 tan40
Adjacent = x

X = 53.63

CONCLUTION :

We realised that trigonometry can be used in many areas such

as astronomy and architecture. Without really climbing a tree, you
can find the height easily with trigonometry. They can be so
widely used in real life applications and very useful for most
architects and astronomers.

We can conclude that without trigonometry, life would be much

more difficult. So it really helps in real life applications and not
only in our tests and exams.
