SECTION D OF DEPED ORDER NO. 8, S. 2015,

This section provides the bases for promoting a learner


to the next grade level or for retaining a learner in the
same grade level.
POLICY ON PROMOTION AND RETENTION
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Final Grade of at least 75 in all subject Areas.

Promoted to
Next level
POLICY ON PROMOTION AND RETENTION
FOR GRADE 4-10

Did not meet expectations in not more than two learning areas.

Decision: Must pass remedial classes for learning areas with failing mark to be promoted to the next
grade level. Other wise the learner is retained in the same grade level.
POLICY ON PROMOTION AND RETENTION
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Did not meet expectations in three or more learning areas.

Decision: Retained in the same grade level.


POLICY ON PROMOTION AND RETENTION
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Passed all learning areas in the Junior High School

Decision: Earned Junior High School Certificate.


Promoted to Senior High School.
POLICY ON PROMOTION AND RETENTION
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Final Grade of at least 75 in all learning areas in semester.

Decision: Can proceed to the next semester.


POLICY ON PROMOTION AND RETENTION
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Did not meet Expectations in prerequisite subject in learning areas.

Decision: Must pass remedial classes for failed competencies in the subject before being allowed to
enroll in the higher level subject.

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Did not meet expectations in any of the subject or learning area at the
end of the semester.

Decision: Must pass remedial classes for failed competencies in the subject or learning areas to be
allowed in the next semester. Otherwise the learner must retake the subjects failed.
POLICY ON PROMOTION AND RETENTION
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Must pass all subjects or learning areas in Senior High School.

Decision: Earn the Senior High School Certificate.


REMEDIAL CLASSES
 Remedial are conducted after the Final Grades have been computed.
 The learners must pass the remedial classes to be promoted to the next level.
 The teacher of the remedial class issues the certificate of recomputed Final Grade. This is submitted to the
Division Office and must be attached to both Form 137 and School Form Number 5.
 If the recomputed Final Grade is 75 or higher
REMEDIAL CLASSES
 For Senior High School learners who fail a unit/set of competencies must be immediately given remedial
class.
 They should pass the summative assessments during remediation to avoid failing grade in a leraning
area/subject.
 If the learners stills fails the remedial class he/she must retake the subject.
