Introvert Extrovert

This study aims to compare introversion and extroversion among senior high school students in terms of self-confidence and academic performance. Extroverts are defined as those who seek stimulation from social interactions while introverts recharge from solitary activities. The study seeks to determine if introverts and extroverts differ significantly in their levels of self-confidence and academic performance. Specifically, it investigates how introversion and extraversion impact self-confidence and academic achievement individually. The problem looks at comparing introversion and extraversion among students and determining if there are significant differences between the two personality types.

INTROVERT AND EXTROVERT: COMPARATIVE
STUDY IN THE SELF-CONFIDENCE AND
ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SENIOR HIGH-
SCHOOL STUDENTS AT COLLEGE OF SUBIC
MONTESSORI S.Y 2022-2023
INTRODUCTION
A person's personality is their own way of thinking, feeling, and behaving. One individual
from another is distinguished from one another by these distinctive traits and behavioral
tendencies. An easy approach to classify someone's personality is by whether they are
deemed introverted or extroverted. While evaluating personality can be complicated and
involve many puzzle pieces, this is not the case with introversion. Persons who are
extroverted are considered to be outgoing and highly outspoken, while introverted people
are typically described as reserved and reticent. Because they possess a combination of
characteristics that distinguish introverts and extroverts, most people assume they are
neither. People typically dwell somewhere on a spectrum where introverts and extroverts are
at opposite ends. This demonstrates that, in contrast to extroverts, introverts would find it
difficult to handle stressful conditions, which expose them to melancholy. According to a
study "The Knot Theory of Mind" by Petric D. (2019), the introvert's attention is inward-
focused; they act, feel, and think in ways that indicate the subject is their main source of
inspiration. Contrarily, extroverts focus their attention on their immediate environment; they
think, feel, and act in regard to objective rather than subjective variables.
STUDY
According to Alagić, M. (2022), Extroversion and introversion are the most researched traits of personality, describing
how one sees or relates to the outside of the world. Thus, extroverts seek extra stimulation from engaging in
conversation and energize from social gatherings while introverts seek enjoyment within their comfort and thoughts.
Consequently, extroverts are defined as the ones who live in the moment and introverts as the ones who try to firstly
understand things before leaving them out. Persistence is associated with conscientiousness (Oche, 2018). Extroversion
and introversion are typically viewed as personality traits.

Self-confidence that is high causes the person to deal with life's issues and stresses more effectively. Today, all
professionals around the world are focused on the efficacy of individuals. essentially. Identification of an individual's
qualities and capabilities in many parts of personality and provision of services It is critical to provide the appropriate
infrastructure for their occurrence in industrial societies. Personality is one of the characteristics that have helped
students' successful academic achievement; it is seen as a significant and effective aspect in human behavior.

Low self-esteem that a person could have in their home might be carried over to their school. This is when individuals
with poor self-esteem have an impact on their academic performance, particularly while completing a school assignment
that requires them to speak in front of a large audience or when they are reluctant to join in class discussions. When the
teacher asks the class to respond to a question, the student with low self-confidence who knows the answer tends to
withhold it out of fear of appearing foolish in front of the class, instead giving the answer to a classmate who is more
comfortable speaking in front of the entire group. Verma and Krishana (2016).
THEORY

Oche (2018) submitted that extroverted people feel energized in the midst of
other people, and are more prone to boredom when they are alone. People
who are high in extroversion tend to seek out social stimulation and
opportunities to engage with others, also manifested in outgoing, talkative
and energetic behavior. This poor academic performance could be linked to
attitudinal variables of introversion and extroversion which may constitute a
vital input that may have direct relationship with academic performance of
students (Oche, 2018).

preferences.
