-A computer program used to display

- It is a sequential presentation of information


with the use of slides, pictures, audio and video,
usually done to support a speech or public

SLIDES
These are the individual panes that contain any mixture of text,
images, video, animations, links and sound.

Common Parts and Functions of MS
PowerPoint
1. Quick Access – is a customizable toolbar that you can use as
a shortcut for your most needed tools and commands.

2. Title Bar – topmost bar that displays the file name of your
slideshow. Unsaved presentations have a file name of
“Presentation1” by default.

3. Control Tool Box – is a set of three icons that allow you to


close, minimize, restore and maximize the program.
4. Tab Menu – is the bar located just below the Title bar. It
contains the set of tabs such as Home, Insert, Design, Animation,
Slideshow, Review and View.

5. Ribbon Menu – is the content of each tab. Located below the


Tab menu. Contains all the commands and other menu items.

6. Slide sorter – the vertical area on the left side of the interface
where your slide’s arrangement appear in sequence.
7. Slide Template – the biggest area on your interface located at
the center. It is where you manipulate individuals slides’ content,
styles, effects and animation.

8. Animation Pane – a tool that displays the animated objects on


your slide.

9. Zoom Slider/Zoom Bar – it allows you to enlarge or decrease


the viewing size of your side template.

10. Status Bar – it displays what slide number you are currently
viewing or working on.

Slides
Contain the information you want to share with your audience.
Placeholders – are areas on the slide that are enclosed by dotted
borders.
Slide Views

Normal View – default view where you create and edit your
slides.
Slide Sorter View – miniature slides are arranged on the screen.
Reading View – it fills most of the computer screen with a
preview of your presentation.
Slide Show View- completely fills the computer screen and is
what the audience will see when they view the presentation.
Adding Notes to Slides
Speaker Notes – PowerPoint gives you the ability to add noted to
your slides to help you deliver or prepare for your presentation.
Transitions
Motion effects that add movement to your slides as you advance
from one slide to another.
3 Categories of Unique Transitions
1. Subtle (Slight transitions)
2. Exciting (Strong Transitions)
3. Dynamic Content (Strong Transitions that affect only the
content, such as text or images.)

Four Types of Animation
1. Entrance – controls how the object enters the slide
2. Emphasis – occurs while the object is on the slide and if often
triggered by mouse click.
3. Exit – controls how the object exits the slide.
4. Motion Paths – similar to Emphasis effects, except the object
moves within the slide along a predetermined path like a
circle.
Animation Pane
-allows you to view and manage all of the effects that are on the
current slide.

Inserting Videos – adding a video


to your presentation can help
emphasize certain points and
provide an example.

Editing and Formatting Videos – you can trim your video so it


will only play an excerpt.
Video Options

Volume – changes the audio volume in the video


Start – controls whether the video file starts automatically or
when the mouse is clicked
Play Full Screen – lets the video fill the entire screen while it is
playing
Hide While Not Playing – hides the video when it’s not playing
Loop Until Stopped – causes the video to repeat until its not
playing
Rewind After Playing – causes the video to return to the
beginning when it stops playing.
Formatting the Appearance of a Video
PowerPoint allows you to format the appearance of a video by
applying a video style, adding a border, changing the shape,
applying effects such as 3D rotation, making image corrections
and adjusting the color.

Embedding a Video from a Website


Allow you to embed videos into your slides. An embedded video
will still be hosted on its original website.
Inserting Audio
-allows you to insert audio files from your computer.

Recording Your Own Audio


-may want to record audio directly into a presentation.

Working with Audio


-you can modify your audio files using the various features of the
Playback tab.
Audio Options

2. Click the Insert tab, go to the Links group and click the
Hyperlink button.
3. On the Hyperlink dialog box, select Place in this Document.
4. Select the page where you want to go when the text with
hyperlink is click.
5. Click OK
