KUT-KUT ART

What is kut-kut art?

• Kut-Kut Art
• A technique combining ancient Oriental and European art process. Considered
lost art and highly collectible art form. Very few known art pieces existed
today. The technique was practiced by the indigenous people of Samar Island
between early 1600 and late 1800 A.D. Kut-kut is an exotic Philippine art form
based on early century techniques—sgraffito, encaustic and layering. The
merging of these ancient styles produces a unique artwork characterized by
delicate swirling interwoven lines, multi-layered texture and an illusion of
three-dimensional space.

Examples of Performing Arts

• Dance
• Architechture
Music

• The short answer is that contemporary music is any music

that is current and being written in recent decades, as
opposed to traditional or historic styles of music.
• Contemporary music is a broad term that encompasses
multiple genres.
CONTEMPORARY VS MODERN MUSIC

• Contemporary music and modern music can have different

connotations.
• While modern music can mean any music written since about
the mid-1900s, contemporary music usually implies that the
music was written more recently, or perhaps music by living
composers.
Dance

• Contemporary is an important genre of dance performed in

societies around the world, celebrated by people both young and
old. Developed during the 20th century, contemporary
dance involves incorporating aspects of movement from
several other genres such as jazz, modern and ballet.
Contemporary vs Modern Dance

• Contemporary dance is a specific genre of concert dance that

concerns non-choreographic movements influenced by
compositional philosophy.
• Modern dance was born before contemporary dance and
focuses mainly on the emotions of dancers, while the second,
focuses on creating new techniques and styles.
Architecture

• Contemporary architecture is the movement where modern

styles blend, sharing various features. And these styles rely on
fewer classicized building ideas. The term 'contemporary' may have
been misplaced. This is because it can still describe buildings that
are almost eight decades old.
Contemporary vs Modern Architecture

• Unlike modern architecture, contemporary architecture is not rooted in any one

time period. That is, contemporary homes reflect architectural trends of the
moment — what’s contemporary now may not be contemporary 20 years from
now.
• Influenced by the modern art movement, modern architecture emerged at the turn
of the 20th century and was a dominant style until roughly the mid-20th century.
While global interpretations of modern architecture varied, each was a response to
major technological advancements that took place at the end of the 19th century.
