is performed in safe way.

• Persons involved in lifting should be have adequate operational knowledge


and experience, well trained and certified for related work.

Factors Affecting Safe Lifting Operations

It is important that personnel involved in lifting operations are aware of the


following factors.

Machine: Selection of appropriate lifting equipment for the job as well as the
integrity of the equipment to perform the job;
Material: of the load that is intended to be lifted
Medium: The environment in which the lifting operation is to be carried out and
includes the setting up and stability of the equipment;
Man: The competency, roles and responsibilities of personnel involved in
the lifting operation; and
Method: The planning and procedures to be adopted for the lifting operation.
