IPED Program Implementation Review (PIR)

Tabotong Elementary School is located in the mountainous Barangay Nalus, Kiamba, Sarangani Province. It serves 87% T'boli, 9% B'laan, and 4% Cebuano students. The school has been implementing the Indigenous Peoples Education (IPED) Program for 4 years. Challenges include child labor, distance of student residences, lack of interest and parental follow-up, and limited resources. To address these, the school works with community elders to develop contextualized learning materials, delivers supplies by motorcycle, and conducts home visits and tutoring. The school plans to continue IPED through community collaboration and seeking stakeholder support.

ISSUES & CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED

 Child labor
 Far distance residences of pupils
 Lack of interest
 Lack of follow-up from parents
 Lack of school supplies
 Absence of health supplies in their home
 Limited face to face contact
 Teachers are not fluent in speaking their dialect
RECOMMENDATIONS

 Hire a motorcycle to deliver the materials

 Conduct parent mentoring with the help of LGU to give
interventions on child labor, to draw their interest in learning,
to advise parents to support their children in studying at home.
 Use the MOOE fund for the provision of school and health
supplies for the pupils.
 Provide additional materials for the tutor volunteers and
parents.
 Construct contextualized materials with the help of some
parents in the community.
PLANS

 We will continue the implementation of IPED in Tabotong Elementary School with

the help of the community elders in developing and constructing different
contextualized materials that will be used in teaching-learning process.
 Due to this pandemic that we have a limited face to face contact with our pupils, we
will deliver the needed supplies and materials to their communities by hiring
motorcycles.
 By having tutor volunteers, and giving them the materials they need, we continuously
implement the program.
 Solicit from our stakeholders the support we much needed for our pupils and school
if we lack fund.
