INTRODUCTION

 Taking blood
pressure measure-
ments at home.
Reasons for Blood Pressure Monitoring

 A huge number of people track their blood pressure at homes.


Often they do this to monitor or manage some
specific conditions of health (Senaratne et al., pp. 52-58). It is
a vital practice as it aids in keeping  notes or logs of
measurements when one track blood pressure at Home
regularly. The doctor will see how a persons blood pressure
varies every day.
How the Cuff Works

 The cuff is fastened around the arm with a swollen rubber bladder. A pressure gage
displays the pressure of the cuff. The blood pressure cuff is inflated by a small
portable air pump.
 The air valve is used to release slowly the air pressure following the inflation of
the mango. A stethoscope is used to listen to blood flow sounds when the pressure
is released.
 The pulse drives blood through the arteries that cause arterial pressure to rise and
fall. The highest pressure is called the systolic pressure and the pressure decreases.
Diastolic pressure is known as this low blood pressure point.

Summary

 For a healthy lifestyle, it is vital to keep check on the blood pressure


levels regularly.
 According to CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), a
person can help control the blood pressure in a stable range by
maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Preventing high blood pressure will
reduce the risk of heart and stroke. The organization recommends on
healthy eating behaviors, regular exercises, avoiding drugs, sufficient
sleep and keeping a check on weight (James, et al., 109-11).
