Renaissance Period (1400-1600)
Renaissance was the period of economic progress, study of ancient
philosophy and artistic values.
Italian Renaissance began in the 14th century. The focus was in
realistic and humanistic art.
The word “renaissance” comes from the word, “renaitre”, which
means "rebirth”.
This era is a period of many changes. It is also the time of “rebirth” of
the composers of modern era.
Renaissance Period (1400-1600)
The Greatest cathedral building of the age was the rebuilding of ST.
PETERS BASILICA in Rome.
Architecture is a type of artwork from the Renaissance period which was
characterized by its SYMMETRY AND BALANCE.
Many works of Renaissance art period depicted religious images,figures
and sculptures including VIRGIN MARY AND MADONNA and were
encountered by contemporary audiences of the period in the context of
religious rituals.

1. Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (1475-164)
He is an Italian Sculptor, painter, architect, and poet
He was considered the GREATEST LIVING ARTIST in his
lifetime and GREATEST ARTISTS OF ALL TIME.

-Pieta, Bacchus, Moses, David, Dying Slave, Dawn and Dusk.
He also created two of the most influential works in fresco in
history of Western art:
1. Genesis on the ceiling
2. Last Judgement on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel in Rome
Fresco is the technique wherein the pigments are mixed with
water and directly painted on the wall.
