Activity in English 7 – Beliefs

and Convictions
Directions: In a one whole sheet of paper, answer
the activities indicated below. Make sure your
paper is neat and clean.
ACTIVITY 1: Carefully read the short conversation. Copy the sentences that state a
belief/conviction and underlined the expressions used.

• Mario: Lucio, what do you think makes a good friend?

• Lucio: Well for me, I think a friend is fun to be with.

• Mario: Hmmm…fun to be with? Can you give me an example?

• Lucio: I would say that I like friends who like to go out and have fun together –go
downtown, go to the beach, see a movie, something like that.
• Mario: So, does that mean a friend has to like the same things you do?

• Lucio: No…not really, I just believe that we will easily become friends right away if we
have the same hobbies and they are fun to be with.
ACTIVITY 2: Read each statement and distinguish if it tells a FACT (something
that can be proven true) or is an OPINION (how someone else feels about
something). Write the words FACT or OPINION.

1.The fastest land-dwelling creature is the cheetah.


2.Green is my favorite color.
3.There are 60 seconds in a minute.
4.I have brown eyes.
5.Earth only has one moon.
6. Christmas is the best part of the year.
